Transitions from 3 Barracks Gas Academy opening
There are different transitions you can do based on map control and position
These transitions are after 3 Barracks Gas Academy Opening
IF BLOCKED / CANNONED IN
If the opposing protoss blocks you in with cannon you have couple of options. Additionally, you must WALL UP in each option by 5-6 minutes
- 3 Barracks, Academy, Factory, 2 Starports, 2 Barracks
- 3 Barracks, Academy, Factory, 2 Barracks, 3 Factories
- 3 Barracks, Academy, Factory, 1 Starport
- 3 Barracks, Academy, 2nd Command Center, Factory, Starport, Full Mech Transition
OPTION #1 - 3 Barracks, Factory, 2 Starport, 2 Barracks
This transition will only work IF there is an opponent right next to you AND your teammates are very far away from you.
The main objective of this transition and decision making is to keep one of the opponents from joining forces / attacking your teammate. It is much easier to hold vs 1v2 or 2v2 than 1v3 or 2v3.
- Place tanks around the edges of your cliffs with turrets around.
- Start shipping marines, medics, tanks, scvs and build a bunch of turrets and bunkers
- This will keep the opposing team locked into his base and won't be able to do anything until the attack has been stop.
- You only want to make about 4 dropships as this should be enough
- Don't be discouraged if this gets stopped a couple of times. As you build up your base and eventually transition to full MECH, it gets stronger and stronger
- Mix in science vessels for iraddiate if you're facing Terran or Zerg to kill the workers.
Option #2 - 3 Barracks, Academy, Factory, 2 Barracks, 3 Factories
This transition is more of a breaking out method. This method is helpful if you are less likely to be in a position to get dropped. An example situation is if you are at 11 o clock (top left corner position), your teammate is in 9 o clock (left mid position). If the opponent is at 1 it'll still be okay because he can only come from directory to do the drop.
As soon as you have your first tank out, you should try to break the cannons as soon as possible. What this does is two things:
1. Opponent will come and try to contain you in. 2. Commit to a push on one of your teammates.
- Wall up and make mass up on marines and medics as much as possible before your first tank comes.
- Do not skip Range or Stim to get faster Factory or Tanks first. If you do this correctly, you should not be skimping out on anything
- Walling is very important because you may need to fall back behind your wall if the opponent decides to contest you.
- This tactic allows you to be involved in the game so your teammates won't have to play 1v3 even if you are contained
